Cassette Privacy Policy

Cassette is a music curation app built around sharing music links and short optional notes. This policy explains what data the app uses and how you can control it.

Data we collect

• Account email address for authentication.
• Username and optional profile biography.
• Music recommendations you post, including track metadata, platform links, album artwork URLs, optional notes, and timestamps.
• Follow relationships between users.
• Product feedback submitted through the app.

Why we use this data

• To create and secure your account.
• To show your profile, archive, follows, and music recommendations.
• To resolve music links into track metadata and platform links.
• To handle product feedback, moderation, support, and abuse prevention.

Legal bases

We process account, profile, follow, and broadcast data to provide the Cassette service you request. We process technical and security-related data where necessary for legitimate interests such as preventing abuse, maintaining reliability, and protecting the service. We process support and feedback messages so we can respond to you and improve Cassette.

Data we do not collect

• We do not sell personal data.
• We do not show public like counts, comments, or engagement metrics.
• We do not use advertising identifiers.
• We do not track listening activity inside Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, SoundCloud, YouTube Music, Bandcamp, or other external services.

Third-party services

Cassette uses Supabase for authentication and database storage, and Resend for transactional authentication email. Cassette may use music-link services and public platform APIs, including Songlink/Odesli, Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, SoundCloud, YouTube Music, and Bandcamp, to resolve music metadata and external links. When you tap an external music link, you leave Cassette and the destination service's own privacy policy applies.

International transfers

Some service providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where this happens, Cassette relies on the safeguards provided by those processors, such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent transfer mechanisms.

Retention

We keep account and profile data while your account exists. Broadcasts, follows, and feedback are kept until they are deleted, your account is deleted, or they are no longer needed for the app. Operational backups may keep deleted data temporarily as part of normal database backup processes.

Account deletion

You can delete your account in the app:

Profile -> settings icon -> PROFILE SETTINGS -> settings icon -> DELETE ACCOUNT

Deleting your account removes your profile, follows, and broadcasts from Cassette. Some operational backups may remain temporarily as part of normal database backup processes.

Your rights

If you are in the EU or another region with privacy rights, you may ask to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict the use of your personal data. You may also object to certain processing. To make a request, email breakdowndrums@gmail.com.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
